| ML Caldwell is proud to announce the debut album of genre-bending troupe the MLC3, Souls in Rotation. With multi-instrumentalist ML Caldwell at the helm, this 10-song project brings you into the universe of the MLC3 with over 60 minutes of funk, jazz, & psychedelic grooves. Stylistically the set provides one with ample opportunities to reflect, muse, and dance. Beginning with the appropriately titled Soul Excursion, the album takes the listener on a roller coaster ride of genres without sounding contrived. Experience the undeniable funk rock of Cosmic Noise; the whimsical love of Solstice; the urban bossa nova of Crooked Halo; the acid jazz of Down the Rabbit Hole; the raw funk of If U Let Me Luv U; the psychedelic blues of I Fly High Sky; the deep soul of Flesh & Bone; the synth & bass driven Sticky; the introspective title cut; and the quirky battle cry of the surprise ending Conception,to close the album out. The entire project bears ML Caldwell’s seal of soul as he acts as producer, writer, composer, arranger, and performer on the bulk of the album. In addition to his work on guitar, drums, percussion, bass, and keyboards, he receives welcome assistance from local music scene veteran Leon Daniel (drums, percussion, & bass guitar), bass guitar giant Steve Suber, & the incomparable vocals of Andrea Vice, whose album, The Ripple Effect, is expected out later this year. Souls in Rotation flows with a deliberate sensibility that makes you feel like you are part of the experience. “It is very much a concept album,” states ML Caldwell, “designed to be listened to from beginning to end. I want people to hear the rawness, the honesty, the vulnerability in the songs. It is not overproduced so it retains a very naked, raw feel. I call it the sushi approach. (Laughs)” Conjuring up images of placing a piece of choice vinyl on a turntable, putting the needle on the record, and getting into your own zone, Souls in Rotation longs to be heard by true music lovers. Neither pretentious nor inaccessible, this album manages to reach people from all walks of life without leaving anyone out of the experience. So please, come along on this soul excursion and experience Souls in Rotation by the MLC3. Currently, long-time drummer and collaborator Wynn Durrah, jazz enthusiast Ramon Convia del Monte on bass guitar and upright bass, and keyboardist Dreymack are grooving with ML to create a new brand of soul. These three create a solid canvas for ML to paint his cosmic sound-scapes upon while retaining their own individuality as music dynamos. Together they are already gearing up to move things to the next phase as The Genesis Movement. |
